22nd edition returns to Toronto, April 3 and 4, 2013.

Jump-start your future or get yourself ready to change it at Ontario’s largest and most comprehensive recruitment event. Your are invited to attend The National Job Fair & Training Expo, the most popular, well-known and productive job/career fair open to the general public in Ontario. Candidates will meet employers that will offer jobs and other organizations that are dedicated to help them find one. The 2013 Spring Fair will be faithful to the tradition by presenting an event that is expected to showcases more than 150 booths with companies from the GTA, outlying regions in Ontario such as Sarnia/Lambton, Kingston and Timmins, other provinces such as British Columbia (Prince George region), Saskatchewan, Alberta and New Brunswick and other regions of the world such as Asia. There will be career opportunities in a wide variety of sectors.

An estimated 500 recruiters, career specialists, HR professionals and admissions officers will be available on the spot to speak to the 8,000 to 10,000 candidates expected in attendance, which makes The National Job Fair & Training Expo the most important and anticipated recruitment event in the spring of 2013 in the Greater Toronto Area and in Ontario.

The Fair is made of five pavilions: 

Employment, Training & Education, Career Services, Entrepreneurship and International (study & work abroad), plus various free service centres such as Resume Professional Assessment Centre (private resumé critique and career assessment sessions), New Canadians Employment Consulting Centre (private sessions), Public Presentations, Entrepreneurship Seminars, Career Posting Zone and Documentation Centre. When planning your visit, remember that each exhibitor is unique. Some will offer one or a combination of the following: job opportunities; self-employment and small business opportunities and/or entrepreneurship services; training and/or education programs; and career services. MISSISSAUGA - On Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 1:00 pm, the EPIC College of Technology is holding an open house session for all Internationally Educated Engineers (IEE) who are pursuing their professional license (P.Eng.) in Canada to introduce its Technical Exam Preparation course program.

This informative session helps you decide which course(s) you should be taking, discussion on how the courses are run, what course load you can expect, the difficulty of the courses and what materials you will be provided with.  In addition, you will have an opportunity to meet and chat with some of the course instructors.

An Open Letter from a Student.

My name is Sherika Alexander and I’m a single mother of four.

Before enrolling at Access Business College, I was a manager at McDonalds located in the Jane and Finch area, a neighbourhood well known for often being in the news.

One day I was called into the store manager’s office, and handed a pink slip saying I was being laid off. I was a responsible, hard-working and reliable employee, but couldn’t escape the employee cuts. Right away, my world turned upside down.

After losing my job I lost my husband because I was unable to help provide for our family and I ended up in a shelter. One day, I decided to drop off resumes at the Jane and Finch Mall and came across the JVS Toronto career centre. I went in to browse the job posting board and came across a flyer about second career opportunities for laid off employees. I took the flyer and went on to the government website to research more about the Second Career Ontario Education Program and the education institutions that support it.

I called community colleges and lots of private colleges. One of the colleges I called was Access Business College. I spoke with the director and explained my situation. She invited me to come to the school and sit in on some of the classes to get an idea of the environment and teaching style the school embraces.

When I arrived, teachers and students knew me by name and that alone made me feel welcome. After my visit, and doing all of the paper work for second careers, I enrolled at Access Business College. The knowledgeable teaching staff and very structured business administration diploma program prepared me for my second career. Six months before graduation I was taught how to compose a customized resume for each position, a cover letter and interview techniques. Upon graduation I was prepared for my job search.

I want to thank Access Business College for providing some of the best teachers to help me with questions and concerns and for the one-on-one discussions. I want to thank the government for putting the second career program in place so that laid off employees like myself can go back to school not only to make a difference in my life but also my kids. If it was not for the second career program I would not have been able to afford to go back to school and receive my diploma. Thank you for supporting the adult education and students in putting our best foot forward in accomplishing our dreams.
